It was also the first G.O.P. debate without Rudolph W. Giuliani, who dropped out of the race fewer than two hours before the event and endorsed Mr. McCain. With big names Edwards and Giuliani out of the race, the Washington Post reports their rivals have already rushed to get their major fund-raising supporters.
