• Earth Day & Digg Meet-up News

  Hey all, Happy Earth Day! I'm thrilled to announce that Digg has been recognized as a key source of environmental news by The Daily Green and its “Heart of Green” award. The Environment topic on Digg has become one of the biggest sources for environmental content anywhere on the Web. So, in honor of Earth Day, we encourage each of you to Digg or submit something that you care about! I also want to remind everyone that tonight we're celebrating our first Digg meet.

• Only First 450 Can Attend Monday's SAG Town Hall: Protesters Expected Outside

  SAG announced tonight that, due to space constraints of the Harmony Gold theater and the guild's policy of using union venues, tomorrow's information confab is being limited to the first 450 paid-up members. (The WGA used the very large Shrine and Santa Monica civic auditoriums for their Town Hall meetings -- and SAG is a much larger union, 120K vs 12K. I'm told SAG sought bigger venues but no other union venues were available on such short notice.

• Steve Ballmer to hold town hall at Microsoft tomorrow [Layoffs]

  Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer has scheduled a "town hall" meeting for Microsoft employees tomorrow at 9 a.m. The subject of Yahoo will probably come up, but why would Microsoft employees beyond executives care? Jobs. Microsoft has put $1.5 billion on the table to retain Yahoo employees, but what about the kids in Redmond? The combined workforce — around 79,000 at Microsoft and 13,800 at Yahoo — is a lot closer to 100.
