• MUI Provisioning failed - Workaround

  I got a couple of people leaving comments regarding an error they where encountering while applying a language pack on a supported environment. They were able to install a MUI (language pack) but were not able to enable it, if any entity has had its form settings edited. When activating the language pack, a SQL error is returned: “Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.LocalizedLabel' with unique index 'ndx_LocalizedLabel_ForSingleSelect'.

• Apparently, there was a curious little provision tucked away into the FISA legislation that went unnoticed before the bill was signed yesterday by President Bush.

  Posted by WLS: The provision was inserted late in the legislative process without any notice or debate, though no one seems to have had much of an objection to it.   It seems that both the majority and minority leadership in the Senate, along with their counterparts in the House, is concerned about the current makeup of the Supreme Court — especially the unpredictable nature of Justice Kennedy .

• Approval Workflows are failing when SharePoint is in a child domain

  Let's take a look at this rather annoying issue.  In this setup you have the following domains setup: Parent domain: planets.com Child domain: sharepoint.planets.com Parent domain 2: mars.com There is a two way transitive trust between the planets.com domain and the mars.com domain.  You can verify this by setting up a share on planets.com and try to add a user from mars.com.  SharePoint is installed and configured on sharepoint.

• When smell cells fail they call in stem cell reserves

  Hopkins researchers have identified a backup supply of stem cells that can repair the most severe damage to the nerves responsible for our sense of smell. These reservists normally lie around and do nothing, but when neighboring cells die, the scientists say, the stem cells jump into action. • Despite significantly raising HDL, torcetrapib failed to slow the progression of coronary plaques

  Investigators reported today that torcetrapib, a drug that substantially raises high-density lipoprotein cholesterol or HDL (the “good” cholesterol), did not slow the progression of plaque buildup in the coronary arteries as measured using an ultrasound probe (IVUS). All development of this drug was terminated on December 2, 2006 after the safety board monitoring a separate large clinical outcomes trial reported that torcetrapib increased the risk of death and other adverse cardiovascular outcomes.

• Reconstructed 1918 influenza virus induces immune response that fails to protect

  An analysis of mice infected with the reconstructed 1918 influenza virus has revealed that although the infection triggered a very strong immune system response, the response failed to protect the animals from severe lung disease and death. The study which was published by Mount Sinai researchers, working in collaboration with scientists from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle.
