Update [2008-3-6 10:21:35 by Eric Hz]: An NL-only LABR roster is in the Comment section. This from Rotoscoop. Chris Liss of Rotowire participated in the AL-Only LABR draft recently. He was kind enough to post his draft results in Rotowire's blog along with his own strategy and analysis of his picks. I heard about this on the return of his fantasy show on XM Radio's Sports Network channel 144. It airs evenings at 11 PM EST. On the show, he said he was focused on getting production from the scarcer AL positions of catcher,... lire la suite

I am still pondering a pitching-heavy draft strategy for 2008. I know it is risky, but, given most of the fantasy world devalues pitching, I know I can get five or six quality ones. This will allow room for the inevitable injury or two. In mixed leagues, this seems viable. But what about an NL-Only league?
The AL and NL LABR drafts are now available. Click either link for the complete results. NL LABR results or AL LABR results In the NL, here are a handful of interesting bids along with a roster that looks pure LIMA. Notable players and auction values: Prince Fielder $38
As part of an agreement between SBNation and AOL, each SBNation football blog is hosting their own AOL Fanhouse Fantasy Football League. Originally Fake Teams had been left out of this deal, but after a discussion with the SBNation Leadership involving torches and a pitchfork, they agreed to incorporate our Fake Teams League into the promotion.

Aaron Hicks gets drafted by the Mets in the mock. The Mets to me have been a team that has drafted college pitchers/toolsy outfielders, and signed a lot of ceiling guys internationally. I think that they get a hybrid a really toolsy, ceiling guy. I voted differently, but once again I wouldn't scream too much over this selection.
Because it's a lazy Friday before a long weekend, it's time to talk a bit about sports. But this is important! The Knicks, to everyone's chagrin, drew only the sixth pick in the upcoming NBA draft. Had they landed the first pick, they would have been assured of getting Derrick Rose, the best player in the nation and a great point guard, which is what the team needs.
The major league draft is just two days away, and so while I don’t have the same amount of sources in the organization that I used to, here’s some rumblings I’ve heard in the last couple of days about what the Mariners might do with the 20th pick in the first round. Aaron Hicks, OF, Wilson HS, Long Beach CA
Team Florida put together quite a showing at the inaugural AAFL Draft. All of its 39 Protected Players, who had spots on the team before today’s draft were present shaking hands, taking pictures, and signing autographs. Cute girls were passing out mini AAFL footballs and a few lucky people got snazzy New Balance AAFL t-shirts (I was not fortunate enough to snag one, although one of the girls said she would look out for me tonight to personally give me one).
Just an FYI in regards to this year's draft: April 27 is the deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft. Remember, as long as they do not hire representation they can change their mind and go back to school. May 20 is ping pong ball day, the day that the 14 lottery teams have their draft slots determined.
Didn’t go to a big Division I school? Haven’t had the chance to put up big numbers on the field? Maybe you just have not had the opportunity to be seen by the right scouts, but have a lot of potential at the next level. Do not fret. A few years ago, you might have been out of luck.
The Hornets have been working out players all this week in preparation for the June 26th draft, bringing in no less than seventeen players in to take a look at. They have another workout scheduled for Saturday - though the number of players, or who they will be, has not been announced. The Hornets could also have more workouts scheduled next week.
ColtsCap. net has the cap info on the Colts rookies up. The Colts first pick of the draft Mike Pollak slots in between Dante Hughes and Charlie Johnson in cap charge at just over half a million dollars. They list the deal as four years. Phillip Wheeler gets the rookie minimum salary this season, but has a 644K signing bonus for a total of 456K against the cap, putting him behind Bethea and in front of Courtney Roby who has a deal structured in the opposite extreme with 445K in salary and a signing bonus that barely makes it into 5 figures.
Let's face it, our bench sucks. While the second unit continues to be excellent defensively, anyone who watches the Hornets can tell they just can't score. Armstrong, Wright, Butler, Jackson and Pargo score 1 point for every 1. points the opposing team scores. That's obviously not supportable.
Traditionally there are two ways to build an NBA playoff contender. You can acquire new NBA talent in the draft. Colangelo’s Third Way Apparently, tradition only applies to teams located in the United States. The lone team north of the border -led by general manager Bryan Colangelo — has found a third way.

Daily Links: Common Grace The SuperBowl came very close to a serious, serious tragedy. A man turned himself into authorities after almost going on a shooting spree. The Boston Herald’s football blog apparently can’t take the heat (which Cimini’s took HARD after SpyGate), and turned off comments.
It's nice that Colts. com is doing article rating various draft prospects by position, though I have to wonder if it isn't the team's actual draft board listing that they've accidentally placed on the site (not unlike TV cameras catching the idiot Cowboys coaches' draft board). Regardless, when you look at two of their articles (one for the RBs and one for the TEs), there are two names missing from those lists:
It’s been a few days, but things are returning to a level of normalcy for these posts … TJ and his girl were at a record release party the other night. The Boston Herald has a review of the AFC East teams and their drafts. Shaun Ellis is excited about Jenkins, and for good reason.
A couple of years ago, it seemed like NFL Europe and Arena Football were going to have some stiff competition on its hands with the introduction of another Football Minor League. The AAFL was getting some good coverage leading up to its inaugural draft. I even shook hands with players like Chris Leak and Peter Warrick at Team Florida’s draft party.
