Lip Smackin’ Ribs from The Next Food Network Star
Lip Smackin' Ribs from The Next Food Network Star · Posted by Editor · March 3, 2008 Posted by Cate O’Malley on Get Your Grill On. Did anyone watch The Next Food Network Star last year? One of the contestants' challenge in the last episode was to make a summer grilling recipe, and the winner of the challenge got their recipe featured on the cover of the July 2007 issue of Bon Appetit magazine. Rory nailed it with her ribs, using a recipe she makes for her family that takes 5 hours in the oven. She scaled it down a bit, time-wise, for the challenge, and still managed to deliver the winning dish.I tend to be a little picky about making ribs … most of the time, it just feels like an awful lot of work for little reward (meat), but I've been craving them lately. Food Network Helps You “Eat Green”
Food Network Helps You “Eat Green” · Posted by Editor · May 28, 2008 Posted by Patsy Kreitman on Growers and Grocers. These days many of us are trying to go green in many areas of our lives. Food Network has jumped in and provided a helpful list of ways you can do this without making huge changes all at once. Here are some highlights: Shop locally. This will give you fresher produce and you'll be supporting family owned farms. Bring Your Own Bag. This piece of advice is much easier to follow than you might think. Just keep extra bags in the car and when you stop for groceries, grab them. Many grocery stores will give you back between $0.02 and $0.05 for each bag you re-use. Go Organic. Most produce is grown with pesticides and that is ingested when you eat them. [lien] [EN]

Food Network Unveils Snazzy New Site Design
Food Network Unveils Snazzy New Site Design · Posted by Editor · October 2, 2008 Posted by Colleen Fischer on Edible TV If you've been surfing the net lately, surely you've noted that Food Network's web site is sporting a fresh look. Gone are the days of lime green and tiny type; say hello to splashy crimson. Literally . . . the header seems to be depicting something wet and red. Blood? Perhaps the head rolling of the old site designer? I kid, I kid. I did detest the old Food Network site, though; I'd swear a blood oath to . . . never mind. Hey, it's almost Halloween, isn't it? Anyway, the new site appears on first blush to be a massive improvement on the old. Take the tour or view the introductory video if you'd like to become better acquainted. [lien] [EN]

Next Food Network Star - Meet the Media
Next Food Network Star - Meet the Media Posted by Editor, June . Posted by Patsy Kreitman on Edible TV. This week, the finalists were challenged by the media. First by Esquire, then by Good Housekeeping . Two very different publications with different demographics. In the first challenge, they met Ryan D’Agostino, the Editor of Esquire Magazine. They were each given two ingredients that could be found in an Esquire man’s kitchen. The challenge was to come up with something that one of their readers would want to make. Once their dishes were completed, they were thrown an extra challenge of doing a 1 minute on-camera presentation of their dish. This was to be their first impression of how they would do on-camera. For some it went well, but Jamika lost her train of thought and never got it back. [lien] [EN]
And The Next Food Network Star is…
And The Next Food Network Star is… Posted by Patsy Kreitman, August . After one of my favorite seasons of The Next Food Network Star to date, we now know who impressed the judges enough to win their own series! But first a recap of what happened Sunday night… It started off with a peek into both Melissa and Jeffrey’s homes with their families. They both seem to enjoy cooking with their children, and you could just see they were both so excited to be in the finale. Next thing we saw them returning to Chelsea Market for their final challenge. Alton Brown greeted them and gave them the news that they would be filming a pilot of their show. The filming was interesting from the standpoint that we saw how each of them struggled with the on-camera aspect and cooking while talking. [lien] [EN]
Food Network Predictions
Food Network Predictions · Posted by Editor · February 14, 2008 Posted by Madeline Miller on Edible TV Well, the LA Times is yet again predicting the demise of the Food Network. It all goes back to the cancellation of Emeril Liveand the . So, here's my question: why does change at the Food Network mean that it's all downhill from here? Why can't it change into something new and better? Well, apparently Mario Batali thinks that the change is not in the right direction. He “took a gentle swipe at his sometime bosses in the New York Times, saying the channel is dumbing down its programming to attract more viewers.” The LA Times thinks Mario was “right, but for the wrong reason.” Basically, the argument is that the Food Network's current programmig is “equivalent of gruel. Food Network Changes are Sensible
Food Network Changes are Sensible · Posted by Editor · February 19, 2008 Posted by Ramsey Merritt on Edible TV. The Food Network's gradual shift from highly-trained chefs with culinary degrees to personality-driven hosts continues. With Emeril Live's cancellation, Mario Batali slowing fading from the network and Sara Moulton long gone – true chefs are scarce around the Food Network. The main block of daytime, “in-kitchen” programming is anchored by: Bobby Flay, Ina Garten, Sandra Lee, Paula Deen, Giada, Emeril and Rachael Ray. In that mix only three – Flay, Emeril and Giada – are true “chefs,” meaning each possesses a culinary degree. For example, Paula and Rachael have both appeared as contestants on Iron Chef America and Chairman Kaga chose not to call them chefs. [lien] [EN]

New Series Coming to Food Network · Posted by Editor · May 13, 2008 Posted by Cate O’Malley on Edible TV The folks at Food Network have certainly been busy lately, seemingly lining up new series after new series for our viewing pleasure. This week, they're unveiling yet another one, Chic and Easy with Mary Nolan. Hosted by 26-year-old Mary Nolan, the new face at Food Network actually landed her series by happenstance. The Spice Fairy and the Food Network
The Spice Fairy and the Food Network · Posted by Editor · May 15, 2008 Posted by Larry Gaian on Get Your Grill On. The Food Network is taking auditions for a new television show called “Grill It.” The show will be hosted by Bobby Flay and audition videos are currently being solicited for this exciting new show. The “most popular” audition happens to be by 2007 New York State Grilling Champion and fellow BBQ Brethren member Clint Cantwell. It's a great audition that you can watch on the Food Network. Well if it isn't enough to have the most popular audition video on the Food Network Clint now has gotten a small write up in the New York Post. What I like the most about Clint's video is that he really captures the spirit of grilling and bbq. [lien] [EN]
