Recently, Boston Dynamics released a video of their Big Dog robot. The popular YouTube clip received more than 3 million views. But it turns out that their earlier prototype was a little bit um, shall we say, strange? Link - Thanks Antonio M!
Yo, suckers! You want this robot dog to guard your home? You're a nut! Mr. T only likes Big Dogs or hot dogs! HPI's little G-Dog thing is way too small, like Murdoch's stupid dog Billy. And it's some kind of kit, so you got to be putting all those fiddly parts like plastic pieces, three-axis acceleration sensor, servos and 7.

Boston Dynamics keeps working on their BigDog quadruped robot, which will probably grow to be the future AT-AT of the Pentagon. Its evolution since the last time we saw it is nothing sort of mindblowing, and a bit spooky. It looks like an actual biological quadruped. Seeing it climb through rubble, snow, jumping over obstacles like a wild goat, and saving a near-fall on iced ground at the last second (fast forward to the middle of the video) defies belief.
Fact: every robot is controlled by a tiny robot pulling all sorts of levers in its chest, just as every human is powered by a gnome yanking on your lungs, heart and various coils of intestine. The Little Big Man kinetic sculpture by Nemo Gould outlines this principle, and was commissioned by the San Jose Museum of Art for a show going on now through October.
To find out if dogs are really homing snackycakes for bloodthirsty sharks, or if poking them in the eye with a pokey thing is actually a good idea, you could ask a dude in a lab coat, or like, watch Jaws. Unless you're the Mythbusters—then you build a robot dog, surround it with doggy blood, piss and shit and dump it in shark-infested waters.
Barack Obama is the man for this job. That’s unequivocal.
Robots are getting better. the Big Dog robot can recover itself from slipping on ice, walk in the deep snow, and keep its balance when kicked hard in the side. Great video.
This is the latest video of the Big Dog from Boston Dynamics. What would you do if you came across this in the woods? I know, take it apart and see how it works, or run for your life! It is amazing how real this things looks when it recovers from a hit at 0: Never mind how cool it is to see it recover from slipping on ice at 1:
newVideoPlayer("bigdogbeta_gizmodo. flv", 520, 410,""); If you thought Humanity was damned after watching the latest BigDog quadruped robot, prepare to loot the nearest supermarket and run for the hills, because this video of the beta version of BigDog will leave you in awe. And probably make you wet your pants like some of the best Monty Python skits.
Big Dog is cool and all but this is a video of a robot with 6 legs and a goateed humanoid head wearing sunglasses and a fedora dancing to Lou Bega's Mambo No. You know, if you're into that sort of thing.
Big News Here are the leading few paragraphs in a great op-ed by Club President Pat Toomey in today's Wall Street Journal: Today, the Club for Growth Political Action Committee endorses Alaska Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell in his bid to unseat Republican Rep. Don Young in the state's August primary.
i swear if i were ever to start another blog - it would totally be devoted to pets - i even own the domain name thecelebritypet. com but who has time to run more than one blog? certainly not i (especially not while holding down a full-time unrelated job. oh good times) so whenever i come across adorable pictures like the ones below (those two chihuahuas are so freakin' cute with their little hats on) i can't help myself from posting 'em here on popbytes!
