I kind of glossed over the whole “Facebook as a way to market yourself” thing in my last post. And Oh my goodness! How could I forget to mention the fact that an Official Joel Hanrahan Fan Club group popped up over the last couple weeks and now has 120 members. I was quite surprised when I first noticed it, but happily so!
MissChatter Tailgate Birthday Bash Saturday June 4, 2008 It’s my birthday and I want a party! I was hoping to rent a suite or do something wild for my birthday, but we’ve settled on a tailgate instead. Come one come all to RFK’s lot 8 on Saturday to celebrate my (redacted-th) birthday before the game, whether you’re actually going to the game or not.
MissChatter : Sideline Reporter October 6, 2008 Oh my gosh! I just found this! The Luke Montz interview did turn out after all : Kind of sad that I asked him about bench coach Pat Corrales just days before he was let go. Whew, could I have talked any faster? MissChatter is dead October 14, 2008 They say marriage involves sacrifice, and the time has come to send the misschatter persona to the sacrificial stand for the mighty blog beast to devour in order to bestow peace and harmony upon my family. As you know, I don’t get paid for this and it was supposed to be fun, but fun that doesn’t involve my family and takes a ton of hours outside of work isn’t the best management of my time.
Ok, so I’m really in a coma - or hibernation - and not dead yet. I’ve run into many people who have asked me to please come back (including my husband, if to mainly justify his MR CHAT license plates (that’s a joke, honey)), and it’s hard to resist (apparently I’m not as strong as Needham).
In the last 6 months of 2007 Facebook had a good share of my time and we all saw it become a widespread phenomenon. It appeared in mainstream news as a source of facts, it was talked about as the new darling of the Internet and it appeared they could do no wrong. Microsoft invested $250m and it got daily chatter on Techmeme and in VC circles.
Discarded Peanut Shells - The Games We Play May 9, 2008 Nice Girls Finish Last Didn’t mean to scare anyone - I just needed some time off to refine my direction here and revamp the site to fit in the advertising that’s going to make me millions (of fractions of pennies) and keep me swathed in fancy photo equipment!
Rob Mackowiak sent to AAA May 9, 2008 to work on his laugh (bud-um bum! This snark gem brought to you by the genius of Mr. Chatter - told ya I can’t come up with stuff like that on my own] I kid because I love! Apparently Rob Mack is a homie, also growing up in the Chicago area.
It’s Mother’s Day! May 11, 2008 Today’s the day I get breakfast in bed and a singing card, and also the day MLB players honor their mothers and support the Susan G. Komen For The Cure by swinging pink bats. Wow, for the second year in a row, we’re playing the Marlins on Mother’s day.
Despite the rainy day loss May 12, 2008 Some cool stuff happened at the game. As mentioned, since it wasn’t our turn in the season ticket pool, we bought a Sunday family four-pack, with our seats being in section 226. We considered dugout box seats, but for a family of 4, that would have been $300 + convenience fees.
So this man in a track suit walked by May 13, 2008 There I was standing outside my office building chatting with the building maintenance guy and enjoying some sun after a waterlogged week, when what to my wondering eyes does appear but a man walking by in a black track suit (with white stripes if you must know).
Be Your Own Fan May 15, 2008 Well, I totally thought I was late to the party on this, but since (as of last night) posts were still popping up on the subject, I guess I’ll go ahead and weigh in after all! What subject? Why, the Elijah Dukes-led ’softball’ cheering from the Nationals dugout at Shea Stadium during the first game of this Mets series.
Today’s Late Lunch May 17, 2008 My adventures in uncut and unedited lunchtime banality continues. I don’t think I’ll be doing “games with MissChatter” anymore. That was kinda dumb.
Erick Schonfeld submits: As Microsoft (MSFT) toys with Yahoo over the possibility of a resumed deal to buy only its search business, is it also thinking of throwing Facebook into the mix? That’s the latest rumor making the rounds. Asked about it in Japan, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg danced around the question by stressing his desire for Facebook to remain independent, but declined to comment specifically on whether a sale to Microsoft was in the works.
Larry Dignan (ZDNet) submits: The rumor mill over Microsoft’s search for an online strategy is working overtime. The latest: Microsoft (MSFT) is working to buy Yahoo’s (YHOO) search business and then Facebook. These rumors, swirling about Techmeme from John Furrier with an assist from Kara Swisher, have been stoked by Microsoft’s revelation over the weekend that is talking to Yahoo about a deal that isn’t an outright acquisition.
Teddy is dead, long live Teddy May 18, 2008 No, not the lovable giant former president racing loser — my daughter’s precious Teddy Bear given to her by her Daddy on Valentine’s Day. The death of whom and my subsequent perceived uncaring will probably be the only thing my kids remember from what was otherwise a pretty good weekend.
Nationals Phall to Phillies With Phacial Expressions May 21, 2008 Yeah, I just couldn’t resist spelling like they do up there in Filadelphia. Sorry about that! Photoset] I took a friend to the game last night while Mr. Chatter took the kids to pick up our newly adopted 11 year old dog, courtesy of his mother who is working in Thailand and had to leave “Kitty” behind.
Discarded Peanut Shells May 29, 2008 A couple of catch up items here as I glow over Little Chatter’s first band concert. He was first chair (clarinet)! After emailing out pictures to the family, responses ranged from “Very cute! (grandpa) to, “Aww! He looks just like you did!
