Writing Better Blog Post Titles

I’ve written a lot about writing and creating powerful, effective, and attention-getting headlines and post titles on your blog, but more needs to be said on the subject, especially for blogging teachers and students.

The following are not effective nor attention-getting post titles:

· March
· March 2006
· March 17, 2006
· Today’s News
· Homework
· Today’s Homework
· In Class Today
· I’m Okay
· Today
· What am I doing?
· What am I doing today?
· How are you?
· Whatcha doing?
· New Post

Post titles like “March” make sense if you are the one writing the post and know that it’s actually March 17.lire la suite

  • Will you all hate me if I start signing blog posts with “Jill, Esq.”?

I’m not technically a lawyer yet because I haven’t been formally admitted to the Bar, but I did find out on Friday that I passed the New York State Bar Exam(!!). Which explains why I’ve been MIA all weekend (there was lots of wine involved). Now I’m one step closer to joining the ranks of the most-reviled profession in the world. And despite the fact that everyone hates lawyers, I am very relieved and very happy.

  • Motivational Time Out Blog Post

DN Journal wrote a cover story about Frank Schilling, which is quite motivating to me, especially after meeting Frank in person and getting rum cakes from him today. About 5 years ago Frank got into domaining as a common man, and now his portfolio is worth deep into 9 figures. In the interview Frank said: Everything on the Internet begins with a name and there are very few people who understand how domain names work or their importance to commerce.

The blog isn't much to look at (vanilla WSS or MOSS 2007) but the content in an aggregator is awesome. I wonder if the guys writing these posts are ex-ScottGu blog writers :)
