The Offies 2007 Tickle, Delight

A couple of them that made us chortle: WHEN A SIMPLE "CUNT" OR "PUSSY" JUST ISN'T GOOD ENOUGH

Not Tickled Pink About Girlish Pink Guns

I wish I were making this up but, alas, I’m not — pink guns for girls. Firearms shops in the US are stocking pink rifles and shotguns to encourage girls to get into shooting. … They include a Remington 20-gauge shotgun with a pink and black stock emblazoned with the slogan: “Shoot like a girl if you can!” … “Females want to shoot guns, but they want them to look pretty, too,” he said. “Guys could give a rat’s butt what their gun looks like.” I think it’s time to take aim at those guns with a limerick: Not Tickled Pink About Girlish Pink Guns By Madeleine Begun Kane Would you like your young daughter to shoot? Simply buy her a shotgun that’s cute. But be sure that it’s pink. It’s so pretty, she’ll think. Breeding killers—a stylish pursuit. (You can find more of my feminist humor here. [lien] [EN]

Patterico’s Los Angeles Dog Trainer Year in Review 2007

It is time for this blog’s fifth annual review of the performance of the Los Angeles Times, which long-time Patterico readers know as the Los Angeles Dog Trainer. Previous annual reviews can be found at these links: · 2003 · 2004 — Part One · 2004 — Part Two · 2005 · 2006 This year’s installment covers a number of topics, including the 2008 election, the U.S. Attorney scandal, and many others. It summarizes an entire year’s worth of work documenting omissions, distortions, and misrepresentations by this newspaper. The evidence is voluminous, but hopefully entertaining. If you have half as much fun reading this as I did writing it, you’ll enjoy this post considerably. I hope every new reader who reads this post will bookmark the main page and return often. December 2007 Roundup

December 2007 Roundup I’m really late getting this roundup out, but the past month has been chaotic, to say the least. The past week or so since I’ve been home has been all about trying to find a doctor to treat a minor surgical complication (no luck yet), and figuring out what is OK and what isn’t OK to eat (ah, self-discovery! very scary!). Sushi goes down really well, as does lentil rice with chicken/gyro meat and sandwiches from Cosi. Not so well received? Bread that isn’t toasted or put through a panini press. It’ll be a while before I try that again, LOL. I’m looking forward to seeing some of you next week at the meetup at Anna’s on the 10th. If you’d like to go, follow the link and RSVP. And if you’re still undecided, could you let me know as soon as possible so I can give Anna’s an accurate head count? Thanks. [lien] [EN]
