Congrats to SF Yanks, who created object #1,000,000 in the Fairpole system, a comment on Bronx Banter:
ScreenToaster On commence avec ScreenToaster, un projet parisien qui vient d'être annoncé et qui va vous permettre d'enregistrer des screencasts gratuitement, sans installation de logiciels. La vidéo enregistrée est hébergée et vous pouvez ensuite la diffuser sur votre blog ou site internet, grâce a un petit code javascript.
There's a Non-Partisan Election Chat over on Dodger Thoughts. For those of you who cannot hold your tongue there, you can dump your thoughts here. I'm posting it on Fairpole so that it stays on the Hot from the Toaster list for a while.
I totally shouldn't say anything, because I'm sure I'm jinxing something, but the machine that Baseball Toaster runs on has been running without a single reboot for 366 days now.
Spears’ friend objects to commissioner Britney Spears’ friend Osama “Sam” Lutfi has filed papers objecting to the Superior Court commissioner assigned to the pop star’s conservatorship case. This entry was posted on Thursday, March 20th, 2008 at 8: pm and is filed under Britney Spears.
Simple question I haven't seen anyone asking: if the software is capable of detecting unauthorized access to the passport files of Obama, Clinton, and McCain, why doesn't it just block access?
Our rebootless streak will come to an end early Tuesday morning after 417 days of consecutive running. Our ISP will be implementing an upgrade to the server sometime between 1am and 4am Pacific Time. The server is expected to be down no more than 15 minutes.
Our ISP had scheduled us for another upgrade in the 7pm hour on Friday, which would have been in the middle of either or both of the Yankee-Red Sox game and/or the Dodgers-Padres game.
Navin R. Johnson: The new phone book's here! Harry Hartounian: Boy, I wish I could get that excited about nothing. Navin R. Johnson: Nothing? Are you kidding? Page 73 - Johnson, Navin R. I'm somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday!
Our ISP is installing a server upgrade, and the site will be down for up to 15 minutes between 1am and 4am Pacific Time on Friday, July 11.
I'm going to be making some fairly big layout tweaks this weekend. These changes are not permanent. I'm doing these experiments, mostly moving ads around here and there, just so that I can get a better understanding of the economics of our site. We will return to our regularly scheduled layouts after the weekend.
Our ISP has informed us that they will be installing an upgrade on Thursday, August 21, 2008 between 2: am and 6: am EST. The server will be down for up to 15 minutes sometime during that window.
I'm currently swamped with a bunch of projects that actually pay me money. I know I have slacked here at the Juice Blog, so I wanted to create some activity while I'm finishing up my obligations. Since this site features any type of subject matter, I'm soliciting points of view on sports, music, television, movies, politics, candy bars, etc.
Eva Mendes’ video shame Eva Mendes hated being treated as a sexual object at the beginning of her career. This entry was posted on Sunday, January 27th, 2008 at 1: pm and is filed under Eva Mendes. The amount of time I have to give to the Juice Blog I suspect will become less in the near future, so I'm looking for Toaster readers who have ideas for baseball pieces that feature the type of edginess you would expect here. I'm not looking for a partner at this point, but I guess it could develop into that if I can find the right person to grow the site.
At the risk of being the object of further ridicule, here is a link to Tom Singer's story in MLB. com about coaches thought baseball giving their opinion about the mandatory helmet rule for base coaches.
I'm sure many readers at the Toaster were deeply saddened by the death of Dungeons and Dragons founder Gary Gygax, on Tuesday. While the only role-playing I've ever had any real interest in was more the I've been a bad schoolboy, please don't punish me too much, Headmistress, I have fond memories of my brother and his nerdy friends getting all hyped up rolling dice like they were the Rat Pack at The Sands.
Shock of shocks, it appears that Mr. Wood is, indeed, this team's closer, and I'm thrilled. I'm also willing to admit that I'm biased, so if anyone wants to drop some logic in here, feel free. The truth is, if the mythical nation of "The Impartial States of Objectivia" were made flesh, on most baseball matters I would be, at the very least, a documented worker.
Since this is a day for Baseball Toaster to discuss top ten baseball books, I thought I'd drop in my 10 favorite baseball books. I don't know if they qualify as best or essential or influential or perhaps any or all.
Actual e-mails among actual Toasterites, accompanied by the play-by-play that inspired the messages:
