Aside from the highly questionable officiating, the Lakers have been out played in almost every facet of the game so far in the 2008 NBA finals and deserve to be in a 2-0 hole. The Lakers defense is non existent and the Celtics are attacking the rim at will. The Celtics maligned bench is crushing the highly regarded Lakers bench.
Reader Mike8813's local ABC affiliate decided that the last minute of game 3 of the NBA Finals was a good time to conduct a monthly required test of the EAS. Whoops! I'm a little pissed off right now. I missed the last 30 seconds of Game 3 of the NBA finals because the local ABC affiliate (KAKE in Wichita, KS) decided to run a test of the emergency alert system.
A follow-up to the piece NBA Finals - Who Wins? here is a collection of responses from around Blogfrica to the same question: Who wins the NBA finals? Jeff Clark, CelticsBlog. com Celtics over the Lakers, just like the old days Darren Heitner, Sports Agent Blog East - Boston Celtics
Latest in the NBA Finals series - by Matt from Hardwood Paroxysm. Worth noting that at the time of writing this, the blockbuster trade with Ben Wallace going to the Cavs had not happened… Eastern Conference The East is essentially a two-team race, as per usual. There are two contenders, four pretenders, and two pieces of fodder (whoever gets the 7th and 8th seed.
Here’s another set of opinions on the NBA Finals, definitely a bit of love for the ‘old guard’ in these two opinions… Connor, HoopsAddict The easy answer would be the Lakers but Kobe’s finger makes me wonder if he can gut it out for the rest of the season. I love rooting for the underdog so the Hornets are a team I’ll be cheering for as well, but, I can’t help but think the Spurs will pull out the win once again.
Next on the list of NBA Finals opinions is DMtShooter of Five Tool Tool… Here’s the thing about picking an NBA Finals winner right now — it’s kind of like picking a horse to win a race without knowing where they are at the gate. For the sake of argument, imagine that none of the horses is Secretariat.
In the regular season the Boston Celtics scored 107. points per 100 possessions, a mark that ranked 10th in the NBA. On defense the Celtics were the NBA’s best, surrendering only 96. points per possession. If we put the two efficiency metrics together, we see an efficiency differential (offensive efficiency minus defensive efficiency) of 10.
There are two methods we could use to evaluate the participants in the NBA Finals. We could look at how many games each team has won. Or we could consider each team’s efficiency differential (offensive efficiency minus defensive efficiency). Table One: The NBA Finals and Efficiency Differential
The Lakers will win the 2008 NBA Finals, according to a simulation run by EA Sports using NBA Live 09. My NBA Finals preview and prediction will be brief because I have Nats/Cards game to attend. It is Ryan Zimmerman bobblehead night baby! He is on the DL like half the sorry ass Nats squad. Anyway, Lakers in 5. Kobe Dominates, the Zen Master gets his 10th ring, and Doc Rivers shows why he is an average NBA coach.

UPDATE: The Lakers took Joe Crawford, a guard out of Kentucky. He’s 6-4, 210 and described as a bit of a tweener. Last season was his senior year at Kentucky and he took 32% of the team’s shots when he was on the floor, still shooting a nice 54% eFG% and a more average 36% from three.
