I just published WordCamp 2008 - Snapshot of the Changing Social of Conferences on the Blog Herald with a ton of WordCamp 2008 in San Francisco live blogging, Twitter tweets, Flickr flicks, YouTube videos, and more. There is also a list of the speaker’s slide shows, blogs, and video that are currently available. This is just the tip of the ice berg of WordCamp reviews, commentary, and live blogging. I’ll update that post as more information comes in. Whew! WordCamp South Africa is this weekend, August 23, 2008, in Cape Town. WordCamp 2008 San Francisco - Great Fun. Pictures Don’t Lie.

WordCamp 2008 brought WordPress fans from around the world to San Francisco. I am always stunned by the lengths so many people take to travel so far for WordPress. Their passion and dedication is to be applauded as every one brings their unique perspective to a WordPress event and the WordPress Community. And they bring their sense of humor and fun, too. I’ll have more information soon, and until then, you can catch up with the live blogs and summaries from WordCamp Report with Patrick Havens, WordCamp 2008 by Andrew Mager, and TechCrunch. The event began with a private dinner for WordCamp speakers and Automattic on Friday night, a chance for everyone to meet before they are distracted by the following day’s events, to compare notes, and have some fun before the hard work begins. Mozilla Labs Meetup – Thursday, August 27th

After a brief hiatus, we are back again for another edition of Labs Night, our monthly meetup to discuss Labs projects, your projects and the Open Web. Our August session will be this Thursday9 pm at the (still) new Mozilla HQ – 0 Castro Street, Suite 0 in downtown Mountain View. The event is open to everyone, so if you are in the area feel free to stop by. Our featured speaker this week is Li Gong, Chairman and CEO of Mozilla Online, the Beijing based subsidiary of the Mozilla Corporation. Li will be talking about a wide variety of topics related to firefox, the mozilla community and the open web in China. We will also hear what a lot of the Mozilla Labs projects have been working on, in 5 minute lightning talk style presentations. We’ll have a few slots open for other lightning talks as well. The 2008 San Francisco Giants in Review

In March, optimism is supposed to waft through the air as if it were pollen. Even if you don’t want to inhale it, the optimism dust travels through your nasal cavity, through your sinuses, and into your lungs. After enough optimism, you eventually sneeze out something like, "Hey, you know, if Zito is the Zito of old, and Rowand hits 35 homers, this team could have a shot!" It takes more than a single Kleenex to get that sort of thing clean. But that wasn’t going around these parts in March. No, no, no sir. There might have been one or two crazy optimists around, but the most you could get out of them would be a vague appeal to "you never know"-isms. The bar for a successful 2008 Giants season had nothing to do with contending. My hopes for the Giants were: a) just one of the semi. [lien] [EN]

San Francisco/ Bay Area Baking Classes: April 2008

How come some doughs call for ice water and chilling and others can be used right away? What do you do with a cookie dough that gets too sticky to roll? How come sometimes your pie dough shrinks or melts? How come your galettes are soggy and or under-baked in the middle? How does dough become tough? will be discussed, touched, listened & paid close attention to, rolled, baked and eaten in my second April class. Think buttery shortbread, pie and galette dough. As great as cookbooks and blogs are, some baking subjects and techniques need hands-on learning. This week finds me in San Francisco starting a spring and summer of public appearances and conferences. I’m getting really geared up for WordCamp Dallas on March 29-30, 2008, and Successful and Outstanding Bloggers Conference in Chicago in May. I hear both of these are filling up fast, so get your registration in immediately. I took time out to help Liz Strauss with a guest post while she’s on a business trip, and had some fun releasing my alter-evil twin, Lorraine, to talk about what you need to do to maximize your social networking when you get up close and personal at a blog conference. This week also finds WordPress.com having trouble releasing future posts. The developers are working so hard on the WordPress 2.5 release on Monday, so they haven’t gotten to this new bug on WordPress. [lien] [EN]

San Francisco Knife Skills Class, 2-17-08

**There are a few spots left for this class...** When was the last time your knife was so sharp it slid through a potato like melted butter on toast? When was the last time you bought a knife confidently? When was the last time you didn't dread making dinner because your knives were so sharp and easy to use that it was a breeze to cut and dice and julienne and peel and mince? It's that time of year. To learn about knives and why they should always be sharp. It's time for Shuna to teach another Knife Skills Class, much to the chagrin of savoury line cooks everywhere. Yes, here I am: a pastry chef who loves sharp knives. A whites clad person who rarely breaks down a chicken and never fillets fish and yet forces her charges to get and keep their knives sharp and in working order. I tell people which knife to use when and we make a lot of fruit and veg delicious because we're not destroying their beauty with our ineptitude and terrible tools. [lien] [EN]
