Okami replacement covers shipping with bonus!
Filed under: NewsHey, remember ordering replacement boxart for your copy of Okami? To make up for the unsightly blemish on the covers that came with the game (sorry, IGN), Capcom offered a selection of replacement art ranging from "the real cover, but IGN-free" to completely new, unconventional box designs, and we all got to pick one.
We've had to wait a bit, but it turns out that we'll get all of them! According to Capcom's Colin Ferris, "Each cover sheet features the cleaned cover art on one side.

OK, NOW Your Okami Wii Covers Are Shipping [Okami]
We're not normally in the business of keeping you up to date on a company's routine paperwork, but since so damn many of you were bugging us about this, here you go: the replacement Okami Wii covers are, according to Capcom, shipping. Right now. And actually shipping, too, as opposed to the not-actually-shipping from a few months back. To compensate for the delay, everyone on their list will be getting all three covers. Got one? Let us know. Okami Wii special covers - Final Update! [Capcom] [lien] [EN]
Capcom Fix Okami's Cover, And Then Some [Okami]
So Capcom's artists swiped (swiped back?) some IGN-watermarked art and it made it onto the game's cover. Whoops. Oh well, everyone makes mistakes, right Capcom? What's important is not the mistake, but the fact the company are going out of their way to make amends. If you've already picked up a copy of the game that features the IGN watermark, and would like a replacement cover, visit this website and Capcom will send you a new one, free of charge. You even get a choice of covers: you can pick from the original, or from two snappy pieces of art (shown after the jump) cut and polished into "high quality" game covers. Guitar Hero replacement discs ship next month
Filed under: News Well, just a few days after we received word you could register online for your new Dolby Pro Logic II-enabled version of Guitar Hero III, we finally get confirmation as to when you can expect your disc to arrive. Our previous placeholder date of "early 2008" now becomes "next month," as Activision confirms. Seeing as now we know just how much money the Guitar Hero name is worth, we wonder what kind of financial detriment this whole debacle has been for the company? How much money is Activision going to lose in shipping out these replacement discs to gamers? Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments Ads by Google [lien] [EN]
Okami Covers Finally Arrive [Ruh Roh]
Thus endeth this long tale of woe, of the IGN-Watermarked Okami art. It stretches back to April, when someone discovered that the box art image was actually repurposed from an Okami handout that IGN watermarked. Six months and two "now shipping!" notices later (the last in August), the damn thing finally arrived. Reader gamer4250 sent us a shot of it. If anyone has higher quality scans, send along and I'll include them. Who wants some sushi? Why Does It Take IKEA Four Months To Replace A Defective Couch Cover? [Complaints]
Joyce has been waiting since December for IKEA to send her a replacement couch cover. IKEA admitted that the cover had a known defect, but since they were out replacements at the time, they promised to call Joyce a month later when new covers arrived. Joyce gave her information and asked for a reference number, but was told that one wouldn't be necessary. Wouldn't that have been nice? fast forward 4 months - no word, so i call customer service. i get bounced to the national handling and they said they cannot find my report. (of course). and then they said they would need to "document" my case, so they were going to forward me to someone else. i got forwarded to anthony who said my problem was a "quality issue" which they do not handle over the phone. and he said i had to go back into the store to resolve it. Here, Have Some Okami Art [Okami]
Personal Story: I've been waiting over a year for my Japanese "Art Of Okami" book to ship. Don't think it's ever going to happen. In its place, though, I guess I can console myself with Okami Art, a nice little act of fan service put up by Capcom for lovers of all things art and Amaterasu. It amounts to having the gates to the game's press assets thrown open to the public, with some fan art and snazzy widescreen wallpapers tossed in for flavour. Seems simple, but serious fans lap this kinda stuff up. Classy move, Capcom. [Okami Art] [lien] [EN]
Okami Covers Finally Shipping [Okami]
Remember that Okami cover replacement deal? Me neither! It was sooooo long ago! Real mists of time stuff. Well, Capcom have profusely apologised for the delay, blaming the sheer number of applications, a number of duplicate entires (cheeky!) and ineligible non-US/Canadian applications (uh..sorry!), but promise that they should be going out over the next week or two. As a bonus for your patience, Capcom have made the covers double-sided, with one side the alternate cover you requested, and the other a watermark-free version of the original. IGN Watermark in Okami Cover Art [Okami]
For a game that rides on artistic chops as much as Okami, this is a pretty bad F-up. Several of you mentioned that there is an IGN watermark on the box art picture. More or less, the background under the wolf was formed by a hi-res shot lifted from IGN's site. Several readers tipped us, including Riven, who supplied images from NeoGAF. And Crecente just emailed to say, yup, it's on his box, too. Pictures after the jump. I'm wondering if the designer Capcom hired couldn't get the hi-res originals from his own client, and googled them off of IGN? No idea, but this is some real stank on Capcom, at least for insiders. Here is the cover. The IGN watermark is next to the dog's mouth. You have to squint. Here's a blowup pointing it out. And here is the picture apparently used to create the background. [lien] [EN]
Another Exclusive Okami Cover [Okami]
This time for the Brits. If you pre-order the game at HMV, you'll get an "exclusive" cover, which is either a savvy piece of awareness on the part of the marketing team or the result of someone at HMV realising the IGN watermark was all up in their copies of the game. Either way, it's quite lovely. Okami: Hmv Exclusive: Special Packaging [HMV, thanks Doug!] [lien] [EN]
Capcom rewards patient Okami buyers with Amaterasu phone strap
Capcom rewards patient Okami buyers with Amaterasu phone strap by JC Fletcher { Aug 8th 9 at 5PM } Someone in Japan has been waiting years for the Wii release of Okami, having let the PS2 release pass in , and then watching the Wii port release everywhere but Japan in . That hypothetical person's patience will be rewarded on October , when e-Capcom orders of the Japanese Wii version of Okami will ship with this Amaterasu phone (or DS) strap. It's totally worth the wait. It beats the "bonus" IGN watermark we got in North America, though the replacement art was certainly nice. In addition to the little porcelain Amaterasu, a limited number of Okami soundtrack discs will be handed out with the game. [Via Andriasang] [lien] [EN]
You've Got IGN Watermarks On My Okami Strategy Guide [Okami Wii]
Misery loves company! It's OK, Capcom. You weren't the only ones to leave an IGN watermark on your own Okami art. Bradygames left one on the cover of their Okami Wii strategy guide, too! What's even kookier is that the watermark appears in a different spot on the book's cover than on the game's cover, meaning it's not just a case of re-using the same art from Capcom's cover. Whoops. Wonder if they'll offer replacement dust covers? [thanks Seth!] [lien] [EN]
Print your own Okami boxart, IGN watermark optional
Filed under: News In order to share the new replacement Okami boxarts with people outside the U.S. (to whom they can't ship the printed copies), Capcom has made the boxarts available as PDF downloads, in a big, take-it-to-Kinko's resolution. Capcom's one-time blunder is becoming more of a boon to fans every day. We checked the new version of the original design for IGN watermarks, and didn't see one. That means that you can place the IGN watermark wherever you'd like! You now have the power to choose the size, location, and opacity of the IGN logo on your Okami boxart. For that matter, you could use any watermark you like! Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments Ads by Google [lien] [EN]
Gears 2 Bonus Disc Detailed [Gears Of War 2]
The British Board of Film Classification website has revealed the contents of the bonus DVD that ships in the Gears of War 2 more expensive edition, detailing the run times and subjects of the various vignettes found on that shiny silver circle. Without giving too much away, there are captures covering various characters, vehicles, locations, and creatures featured in the game, along with a couple of specials bits and a lengthy feature called "Beneath the Surface", which apparently froze after 6 minutes, 50 seconds. I've posted the full listing after the jump, so if you're curious, go ahead and take a peek. Just be warned, the content has been rated M by the BBFC. n/a GEARS OF WAR 2 BONUS DISK 00:34:29:00 BENEATH THE SURFACE (NO SOUND UNTIL 3M30S)(FREEZES AT 6M50) 00:01:05. [lien] [EN]
Serenity Bounces Onto Blu-ray With Actually Awesome Cover and a Ton of New Features [Serenity]
Give me Malcolm Reynolds over any other bucket-o-bolts captain ever. Joss Whedon is a national treasure and Nathan Fillion is his greatest muse. Yes, I'm such a fanboy I totally won't mind buying Serenity for the third time, finally on Blu-ray, since it comes packed with a Firefly class ship's worth of new features (like a bonus four hours of Whedon weeping on camera, says Mark), BD-Live content, and a bump to lossless 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Perhaps the best feature though, is that the cover finally doesn't suck. Worth the $30 MSRP, though I'm sad it won't arrive until Dec. 30, weeks after the Firefly boxset. Here's the whole feature list: * Alliance Database * U Control: Mr. Universe Compendium * U Control: Digital Tour of Serenity * U Control: Picture in Picture * U Control. [lien] [EN]
