Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Released to Manufacturing
When will I get Windows 7 RTM?
I recognize this is an important question to have answered. Many of you have said you want to know exactly when you will be able to get your hands on RTM. Last Monday, I gave an update on RTM to close out some myths. In that update, I also gave a broad timeline on when different groups of people – or “audiences” – would get the final RTM code.
While I have nothing new to add regarding RTM today, I do however have more precise information to give on when you will be able to get RTM.

Windows Server 2008 and SharePoint Resources
With the upcoming launch of Windows Server 2008 you'll start to see more resources related to SharePoint deployments on Windows Server 2008. First to note is since RC0 of WS08, you need to have WSS service pack 1, and as applicable MOSS SP1. To run Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 for a fresh installation after installing Windows Server 2008, install Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 with SP1. You'll find a couple of references on TechNet related to deployment on Windows Server 2008 updated since RC0. To transform Windows Server 2008 in a Workstation (to directly develop on MOSS 2007)
Hello, Few days ago I changed my professional notebook/laptop for a real “working” machine. Working on advanced MOSS 2007 projects, setting up directly MOSS on my host OS is nice, so did I. Windows Server 2008 Standard RC1 EN, bytes from MSDN, looks like the best candidate for this. Once setup (it’s Vista “like” setup screens), the OS runs smoothly, and working pleasure is here. But, Windows Server 2008 is hardened compared to Windows Server 2003 R2 on security. Everything is here, but you need to dig in the OS to have them: · Having Windows Media Player or Photo Gallery: To have them available you’ll use the great new feature of Windows Server 2008. Is MOSS supported in Windows Server 2008
I am getting lot of questions around what is the support available for MOSS with upcoming Windows Server 2008 release. Can we upgrade from win 2003 to win 2008, is 64 bit supported, if so how to install it, what version of .NET Frameworks is required, do we support .Net Framework 3.5? Man .....there are lot of question!!!! Please have a look at following post from the SharePoint team in US with all the answers to above http://blogs.msdn.com/sharepoint/archive/2008/01/16/windows-server-2008-and-sharepoint-resources.aspx [lien] [EN]

Then there is the long awaited (at least by me) Windows SDK for Windows Server 2008 that you can download here. Finally you might be interested in downloading the Windows Server 2008 Developer Training Kit from here. The training kit is based on the DinnerNow application that you can get from here. [lien] [EN]
