Sony Ericsson Satio and Aino reportedly launching next month in the UK
[sony-ericsson-aino-satio]
While neither handset is quite as lust-worthy as the eventual XPERIA X, the Sony Ericsson Aino and Satio are both expected to launch next month across the pond. Sony Ericsson has reportedly issued a save the date invite for a press event to be held in the UK. According to reports, the event will take place on October 7th and will “celebrate the retail launch of Sony Ericsson’s hotly anticipated Satio and Aino handsets.” As such, it stands to reason that both handsets can be expected on or shortly after that date.

The company has just announced that they will be the first North American service provider to carry a subsidized version of SE’s high-end camera phone. For the record, the K850 is one hell of a handset, sporting an N95-rivaling 5 megapixel camera with xenon flash, tri-band HSDPA, video calling support, and much more. Rogers is set to offer the K850 for a paltry $200, though you’ll have to sign over 3 years of your life for the privledge. Available immediately. Read [lien] [EN]
All 12 megapixels of Sony Ericsson’s Satio get poked and prodded by the FCC
Mmmmmmm, Satio. If Symbian is your thing, it pretty much doesn’t get any better than this forthcoming beast from Sony Ericsson. Hell, even if Symbian isn’t your thing, you still have to respect this monster of a handset. While the ever-mysterious Xperia X3 (aka Rachael) still sits at the top of our list of Sony Ericsson kit we need ASAP, the Satio comes in at a close second. Why? If you weren’t paying attention back in May when SE announced it, allow us to refresh your memory: S5th Edition OS-inch 0 x 0 pixel 9 touchscreen display1 megapixel camera with auto-focus, xenon flash and 2x digital zoom8 MB internal memory, microSDHC support, FM radio with RDS, aGPS with turn-by-turn navigation, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and plenty more. Yeah, that’s why. The first iteration of the Satio just cleared the FCC’s initial round of testing so we’re crossing our fingers extra tight with the hope that it materializes soon. [lien] [EN]
Sony Ericsson goes big with the XPERIA X1
Ever wish you could grab a new Sony Ericsson handset with a full QWERT keyboard, 3.2 megapixel camera, aGPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HSDPA/HSUPA, all running atop a beautifully skinned version of Windows Mobile 6? Turns out today might be your lucky day. SE has just unleashed the XPERIA X1 at the Mobile World Congress, and from the looks of things, this is going to be one hell of a competitor. The handset sports a slide out / slide up keypad that looks like a cross between a Sidekick and an HTC Tilt, with navigation accomplished by way of a 4-way dpad and an optical joystick. The handset also sports a custom "panel interface" that appears to provide TouchFLO-like icon-based navigation. No word on price, but we should see it launch in "select markets" by the second half of 2008. [lien] [EN]

Sony Ericsson Announces the T303; Party Like it’s 1999?
CeBIT is now underway in Hamburg, Germany and Sony Ericsson has chosen the forum to officially announce a new low-end handset dubbed T303. Shots of the T303 had been leaked last week but the name of the device and its specs were unknown at that point. Well, mystery solved. The T303 is aimed at the younger market and fits in the ‘fashion phone’ category; petite dimensions, mirror chromed face and limited functionality are tell-tale signs. Light users may enjoy this one but expect it to be a downgrade if you’ve ever owned a phone that does, well, anything. Specs include: · 1.8" 128×160 65K color screen · 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x digital zoom · media player with TrackID · FM Radio with RDS · Dimensions: 83×47×14.7 mm · Weight: 93 grams · No memory card slot (?!?) · No 3G. Sony Ericsson K850 coming to AT&T
The FCC is a certifiable goldmine for anyone looking to uncover the latest carrier offerings before they’re made public. The latest discovery is the Sony Ericsson K850, which according to the FCC is headed to none other than AT&T. That’s good news for American SE fans that have felt a bit forsaken by the lack of high-end offerings on American carriers. The K850 on display from the FCC sports tri-band 3G support, which should translate into some HSDPA goodness when it finally hits the AT&T shelves. No official word yet on when we might expect to see this 5-megapixel beast, but it’s rumored to be soon, and we’ll keep you updated like always. Read [lien] [EN]

Motion Sensitive Gaming Coming to Sony Ericsson Phones? [Rumor]
According to Pocket-Lint, Sony Ericsson has signed a deal with GestureTek to utilize a software engine which uses a cellphone camera as a motion sensor. Because the software is currently used in the PS2 EyeToy, it will be used to launch a new range of Sony Ericsson motion sensitive games. And apparently, Super Monkey Ball and Crash Bandicoot are in the works (see photo). Similar in function to the camera-based motion sensor in the Samsung Instinct, GestureTek's technology is cheaper to implement that the accelerometers found in phones like the LG Secret and iPhone. It can also be retroactively applied to old Sony E cameraphones. Is Sony Ericsson finally getting serious about cellphone gaming? We'll see. Check out Pocket Lint for more photos. [lien] [EN]
