I'm currently swamped with a bunch of projects that actually pay me money. I know I have slacked here at the Juice Blog, so I wanted to create some activity while I'm finishing up my obligations. Since this site features any type of subject matter, I'm soliciting points of view on sports, music, television, movies, politics, candy bars, etc. All I ask is to come strong and don't be afraid to stir it up. It will be our own little Toaster group study to see how far the comments can go and what different directions they will ve... lire la suite

Two of America's Top Music Critics have offered up their Top 10 Lists for 2007 exclusively for the Juice Blog. I'm talking about Will Carroll and Mark Donohue. Will and I have been making these lists for awhile and I asked Mark, who has been writing on music for the great website, Nude as the News.
The amount of time I have to give to the Juice Blog I suspect will become less in the near future, so I'm looking for Toaster readers who have ideas for baseball pieces that feature the type of edginess you would expect here. I'm not looking for a partner at this point, but I guess it could develop into that if I can find the right person to grow the site.
I appear on local sports radio on a regular basis and I try to prepare some specific material for each market. One thing I've noticed over the past couple of years is how little baseball is discussed. Outside of strong traditional baseball towns like New York, Boston, St. Louis and Cincinnati, very rarely is MLB the topic, unless the steroids thing is being discussed or the playoffs are happening.
after 7 years of preparation and anticipation, the XXIX Olympiad has finally opened in Beijing. What an amazing opening ceremony. And such breathtaking architectures of the " Birds Nest" National Stadium and " Water Cube" Aquatics Center. It's hard even just to imagine the amount of thought and hard work that went into creating these phenomenal achievements.
I travel. A lot. As I type this, I’ve just flown back from Israel, over 24 hours on planes disconnected from my computer and the Internet and my life after two weeks in one of my favorite places, where every day brought new meetings, interviews, explaining blogging, talking WordPress, meeting old friends, making new friends, some exploring, shopping, and too much to do in too little time.
It happens to everyone, including bloggers. You work and work, filled with enthusiasm, eager to embrace each day. Then something happens. For a blogger, it’s little things. A mistake found in a post months after publishing. You are embarrassed but no big deal. Then someone says something a bit sarcastic towards you, and not your post, and you blow it off.
This week finds me in San Francisco starting a spring and summer of public appearances and conferences. I’m getting really geared up for WordCamp Dallas on March 29-30, 2008, and Successful and Outstanding Bloggers Conference in Chicago in May. I hear both of these are filling up fast, so get your registration in immediately.
As I struggled to determine my blog’s focus, I debated like many about the definition of “narrow”. After all, how narrow is narrow in your niche? After years of personal debate on this issue, I came up with this answer: Your blog focus is too narrow when you run out of things to write about.
Qu'est-ce qu'on mange le 03 septembre 2007 ? New York, Just keep the diamonds in my hair New York, chapitre 2. On va partir dans tous les sens en même temps. Commençons sans plus attendre par aborder le Cheesecake New Yorkais. Qu'est-ce que c'est au juste, me direz-vous, les mains moites d'angoisse?
I had last week’s Weekly Digest of “Lorelle World” ready to go, but life stepped in with a lot of snow and too many distractions. My apologies. So this week, you get three-for-one. I decided to have a little fun these past few weeks with the types of articles I published here and on the Blog Herald.
This week has been a busy one as I prepare for two intensive blogging article series coming up in the next couple of months. I doing a lot of research and I’ll give you a hint. One is about personal blogging and the other is about blog writing. Stay tuned for more hints. I’m sent to speak at WordCamp Dallas and SOBCon 2008 this year and have more details below.
I’ve been working non-stop on my upcoming big article series on blog writing and personal blogging. I’ll be posting some requests for your assistance on these issues soon. I’m also working on two books, as well as the ebook version of Blogging Tips, so stay tuned for more announcements on that.
As a blogger and professional editorial and technical writer, I have collected a variety of online resources and references to help me write, blog, and work. The following are a list of Internet resources, sources, references, guides, and tools that help me with my basic blog writing research and publishing.
blogging, conferences, science communication studies Science blogging, singularities, and the multitude of technoscience I wrote last week about the 3rd annual UK conference on ‘Science and the Public’ to be held in Manchester, 21-22 June. I thought I had missed the dead-line, but it turned out they had extended it, so I sent in an abstract—and to my pleasure it’s just been accepted by the program committee.
Get ready to go naked. On April 9th, 2008, hundreds, possibly thousands, of blogs and websites will go naked in honor of CSS Naked Day. Join fellow WordPress bloggers in honoring web designers and WordPress Theme builders by going naked. This is the third year of the annual CSS Naked Day which honors web design and designers around the world who help make our websites and blogs look “pretty” to the eye while still being totally functional under the hood.
I’ve written a lot about writing and creating powerful, effective, and attention-getting headlines and post titles on your blog, but more needs to be said on the subject, especially for blogging teachers and students. The following are not effective nor attention-getting post titles: March
When Liz Strauss stood before WordCamp Dallas and said she had 60,317 comments on her blog, the audience was staggered. Even Matt Mullenweg was impressed. Everyone was impressed and wanted to know her secret. Now you can get the secret behind online community building from Liz Strauss.
