The last beta version of symfony 1. was released this week. Next version will be Release Candidate 1. Besides, plugins have broken all records this week with an immensurable development activity. More than 24 plugins have been updated and continue enhancing the framework in multiple ways.
During this week, the second symfony " code sprint" took place, generating very intense development and documenting activity. The result is a whopping 170 changeset list and a great update of symfony 1. book. In addition, 10 new symfony-powered websites have been presented, 6 new plugins have been published and more than 20 plugins have been updated this week.
Symfony 1. was released this week, closing 21 tickets and completing another milestone for 1. X branch. Meanwhile, symfony 1. added a way to mark template value as being safe for output and introduced sfFormExtraPlugin, a new plugin for packaging useful validators, widgets, and forms which will not be included in the main symfony package because they are too specific or have external dependencies.
The main activity of this week has been the refactorization of sfPatternRouting. Although the refactorization introduces several new features, all the modifications are backwards compatible. The new routing mechanism will be faster, more robust and much more configurable. Development highlights

Symfony 1. maintains its strong development activity for another week. More than 130 changesets have been committed, including a new cache: clear task and a new YAML parser/dumper that replaces Spyc. Nearly 50 bugs have been closed and more than 20 plugins have been updated.
This week, symfony 1. beta 2 was released, freezing the API of new features and finishing most of the internal refactoring. A new symfony sprint was announced and a tentative symfony 1. release date was disclosed (in about 4-8 weeks). Meanwhile, plugins maintain their frenetic activity and continue updating their code for symfony 1.
