For those of you who missed the fireworks and the marching bands, last week, php| architect announced their next book project, php| architect’s Guide to Programming with the Zend Framework.
I've recently read Cal Evans's Zend Framework book. Before I voice my opinion, a disclaimer: I have met Cal personally; in fact I'm having diner with him next Monday, I'm writing a book for php| architect, and my company is a Zend partner. I could not be any more biased.

Yeah, this is really really good news, for both worlds. I was following Zend Framework loosely but from a lot of friends in this scene I have heard that it is the rising star and quasi industry standard of PHP frameworks. And now the logical next step to join forces with dojo is just right.

Bonjour, après avoir essayé d'aller chez Free, je suis en train de chercher un hébergeur gratuit qui supporte le Zend framework (fonctionne avec le langage PHP). Pour information, je n'ai pas pu utiliser mon FTP de chez Free car j'ai eu des problèmes avec les HTAccess (Free n'autorise pas l'URL rewriting), et la fonction set_include_path est aussi désactivée chez cet hébergeur.

Le Zend Framework 1. vient de sortir en version finale. Il intègre maintenant un support Dojo version 1. sans empêcher l'utilisation d'autres technologies AJAX), un support complet de SOAP Web services et plus de tests unitaires sur les contrôleurs. Cette version a été entièrement développée avec une méthodologie basée sur Scrum, ce qui permet un développement plus agile.

As Cal posted on devzone, Zend Framework was awarded the Jolt Productivity Award last week. Although Google Guice took first place this is still a great acknowledgment for how far the Zend Framework has come. Thanks to its use-at-will architecture and flexibility we are seeing an increasing amount of business critical PHP applications being built on Zend Framework, both new and existing projects which are incrementally adopting it.
Yesterday, May 15th, we released a maintenance release of Zend Framework. issues were resolved in this 1. release. Thanks to all contributors and the ZF team who made this happen. This reinforces our commitment to high quality and we will continue to release periodic mini releases on an as needed basis.
