  After more that two years of development, the Propel team has released Propel 1. yesterday. This is a great achievement as Propel 1. sports a lot a new exciting features. Here are some major features available in this version: PDO: Propel 1. uses PDO to connect to the database which means that everything will be much faster than before.

  As a lot of people ask me the same question over and over again, so here is some information about the state of the integration of ORM tools in symfony. Even if symfony can use any ORM tool, or none at all, two libraries are tightly integrated with the symfony core: Propel and Doctrine.

• A week of symfony #86 (18->24 august 2008)

  Symfony 1. is due to release in few weeks and therefore its development is accelerating. This week, Propel 1. was added as the default Propel version and the web debug toolbar was refactorized. In addition, development of symfony framework achieved 11000th changeset milestone. 

• A week of symfony #49 (3->9 december 2007)

  Symfony continues polishing its components before the long-awaited launch of 1. version. During this week, 45 defects and 37 enhancements have been closed and the cache framework has been refactored. New milestone for symfony: more than 300 websites around the world publicly declare that they use symfony.

  The revolutionary form mechanism of Symfony 1. continues taking shape with new features, bug fixes and other tweaks. Creating a state-of-the-art form mechanism, incorporating some of the best practices from other frameworks and libraries and assuring its quality and flexibility takes some time but the wait will be definitely worthy.

• A week of symfony #66 (31 march -> 6 april 2008)

  During this week, the second symfony " code sprint" took place, generating very intense development and documenting activity. The result is a whopping 170 changeset list and a great update of symfony 1. book. In addition, 10 new symfony-powered websites have been presented, 6 new plugins have been published and more than 20 plugins have been updated this week. 

• A week of symfony #69 (21->27 april 2008)

  The last beta version of symfony 1. was released this week. Next version will be Release Candidate 1. Besides, plugins have broken all records this week with an immensurable development activity. More than 24 plugins have been updated and continue enhancing the framework in multiple ways. 

• A week of symfony #71 (5->11 may 2008)

  Outstanding week for symfony with three new versions released: and 1. RC1. After its first release candidate, symfony 1. gets tons of fixes and enhancements. As usual, plugins continue breaking records with more than 22 updated plugins and 6 new plugins released during this week. 

• A week of symfony #74 (26 may -> 1 june 2008)

  While symfony 1. got some more polishing during this week, Yahoo! published two of the plugins used in applications such as Yahoo! Answers and Yahoo! Bookmarks. Using ysfDimensionsPlugin and ysfR3Plugin your symfony application gains access to the same utilities used by the biggest Internet applications.
